Nomi Raises $3 Million Led By First Round Capital
Nomi is a startup that was started by former Buddy Media and Salesforce.com executives. The company has raised $3 million in seed funding led by First Round Capital. Other executives that participated include Greycroft Partners, SV Angel, Ralph Mack, Forerunner Ventures, Dave Tisch, Andy Dunn, and Sam Decker.
Nomi co-founder and Chief Revenue Officer Wesley Barrow used to the director of Eastern sales for Buddy Media. Buddy Media was acquired by Salesforce.com last year. Nomi is an application that lets you make data-driven decisions in real time about every aspect of your retail store to help increase foot traffic, loyalty, and sales.
Barrow believes that Salesforce.com’s largest strength was CRM, but the company never really had a big retail customer base because “retailers don’t know who their customers are.” Retailers know what customers bought from the store, but they do not know how many times you walked in and left without buying anything. The company uses mobile location data to track some of these analytics.
Other Nomi co-founders include Marc Ferrentino (former chief technical architect at Salesforce.com) and Corey Capasso (co-founder of Spinback, a company acquired by Buddy Media). Nomi started this past August and is currently testing a pilot program with several major retailers.
