RepairPal is a website that is a marketplace for auto repair. The startup has raised $13 million in funding led by Cars.com and Castrol innoVentures (the venture arm of Castrol). This is Castrol’s first technology investment. RepairPal has raised a total of $20 million thus far.
RepairPal was started in 2007 and was considered a Google Health for cars. The website lets you get price estimates for parts and repair jobs for your car based on the car year, model, and mileage. It provides a price range based on your zip code. RepairPal has a director of thousands of local mechanics and each shop is placed on a Google Map.
RepairPal launched a new feature last year called Top Shop. Top Shop is a marketplace for high quality auto repair. Each shop is vetted by RepairPal to make sure that customers are getting a fair price and is getting quality repair parts. TopShop offers a 12 month or 12,000 miles guarantee. There are currently around 200 TopShops listed on the RepairPal website.
This round of funding will be used on product development and to add more mechanics to the TopShop network.
