Fashion Blog “The Business Of Fashion” Raises $2.1 Million

The Business of Fashion is a fashion blog that has raised $2.1 million in a seed round of funding led by Index Ventures.  Other investors in this round include Samos Investments, Carmen Busquets, Novel Group, Novel TMT Ventures, LVMH, and Advancit Capital.  Based in London, The Business of Fashion covers news and analysis about fashion.  The Business of Fashion was launched by Imran Amed in 2007.

We are aiming to create a next generation B2B media company, designed to inform, stimulate and inspire today’s highly connected, globally-minded, fashion industry professionals,” said Amed.

Making this investment slightly complicated is that LVMH is known as Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.  The Business of Fashion often writes about Louis Vuitton products.  Can The Business of Fashion write impartial reviews about Louis Vuitton products going forward now that they are a portfolio company of the luxury goods company?  Amed said that they will be retaining “complete editorial independence from its investors in order to maintain and protect the company’s reputation and value.”
