Elasticsearch Raises $42 Million

Elasticsearch is a real-time and enterprise data search company that has raised $24 million in Series B funding led by Mike Volpi.  This round of funding also includes participation from Benchmark Capital and SV Angel.  Elasticsearch has raised a total of over $34 million so far.

Based in Amsterdam, Elasticsearch helps companies retrieve information from large volumes of structured and unstructured data.  Elasticsearch lets you analyze petabytes of information so that businesses can make informed decisions using analytics.

Elasticsearch was co-founded by Shay Banon, whom is currently the CTO of the company.  Banon released open source software in 2009 that has been downloaded over 1.9 million times at a rate of 200,000 times per month and Foursquare is a user of it.  Foursquare handles tens of millions of searches across 50 million locations per day and Elasticsearch returns the results in real-time.
