Pinterest Raises $200 Million In Series D With A $2.5 Billion Valuation
Pinterest, the social pinboard content website, has raised $200 million in a new Series D round of funding led by new investor Valiant Capital Management. Pinterest allows users clip and share their favorite videos and photos online through the use of virtual “pinboards.”
Existing investors that participated in this round include Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, and FirstMark Capital. This round of funding values Pinterest at $2.5 billion. The funding will go towards hiring, technology development, infrastructure, international growth, and M&A. Pinterest currently has about 100 employees.
“Our focus is on helping millions of people discover things they love and get inspiration to go do those things in their life. This investment gives us more resources to help realize that vision,” stated Pinterest CEO Ben Silbermann.
