Nokia Announces 105, 301, Lumia 520, and Lumia 720

Nokia has announced several new phones today which include the Nokia 105, the Nokia 301, the Lumia 520, and the Lumia 720.  The two Lumia phones are powered by the Windows Phone operating system.  The other two have a low cost and are intended to connect “the next billion and beyond.”

The Nokia 105 is available in cyan and has a color screen.  The Nokia 105 is priced at only €15 ($19.90 U.S. based on the current exchange), making it the most affordable Nokia phone.  The 105 can make phone calls and supports SMS.  It also has an FM radio and a flashlight.  The 105 is dust-proof and splash-proof.

The 105 can support up to 12.5 hours of talk-time and 35 days of standby time.  It also has pre-loaded  games and the Nokia Life service will be available in supported countries.  The 105 will be available starting in Q2 2013.

The Nokia 301 has a 3.2-megapixel camera, a numbered keypad, and supports 3.5G Internet.  The camera has a self-timer for taking photos with other people, a self-portrait feature that voice prompts you how to position the phone so that your face is in the frame, and it takes 3-5 frames so that you can choose the perfect picture.  The 5-in-1 camera app lets you share images on social networks or you can send it to another person’s phone using Nokia Slam.  The phone can stream videos from YouTube and you can download them using the Vuclip app.  The phone comes preloaded with Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, and eBuddy.  The 301 can last up to 39 days on standby when using the single SIM version on a 3G network.  The 301 supports HD voice for clear calls when used with an operator network that supports the protocol.  The 301 will be available starting next quarter at a price of €65 ($86.05 U.S.).

The Nokia Lumia 720 is powered by Windows Phone 8, NFC, Nokia Music, and HERE Location services.  The camera on the phone has 6.7 megapixels, f/1.9 aperture, LED flash, 720p recording, and Carl Zeiss optics.  The Glam Me app on the phone lets you edit and play with images that you have taken with the front-facing camera.  the Place Tag feature lets you add the location, date, and time to the pictures that you take with the main camera.  The Lumia 720 will be available at a price of €249 before VAT starting in March 2013.  It can be bought in red, white, cyan, black and yellow.

The Nokia Lumia 520 is powered by Windows Phone 8 and it has a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus.  The Cinemagraphfeature lets you add animation to your photos similar to the way that Vine works.  The Smart Shoot feature lets you take multiple group photos with a single click.  The camera has a Panorama lens to create super-wide-angled photos of scenes.  There is 8GB of internal memory and it can support microSD cards up to 64GB.  The Lumia 520 has a super sensitive touch technology so that you can tape and scroll with your nails or while wearing gloves.  The Lumia 520 is available in yellow, red, cyan, white, and black.  You can upgrade to Nokia Music+ for unlimited downloads, lyrics, and track skips for €3.99 a month.  The Lumia 520 also has location and navigation tools like HERE Drive, HERE Maps, and HERE Transit.
