Samsung Announces A Wallet App For Android

At the Developer Day event during Mobile World Congress, Samsung announced a Wallet app for Android.  Samsung’s Wallet app for Android works similarly to Apple Passbook.

Samsung Wallet will store coupons, tickets, and membership cards in one place. Companies that have Samsung Wallet apps in the pipeline include Hotels.com, Walgreens, Major League Baseball, Expedia, etc.

Developers will be able to utilize the Samsung Wallet API to provide real-time updates on membership card points according to Mashable.  Travel companies can also make changes to boarding passes.  The API also gives access to location-based push notifications.  The Samsung Wallet API is in beta mode and is available to certain partners.  It will be available for the public starting in May 2013.
