It Costed Newsweek $7 Million To Shutdown Print Operations

InterActiveCorp has announced their Q4 earnings.  The company runs media properties like Match.com, Ask.com, and About.com.  IAC also has a controlling stake in Newsweek Daily Beast. Newsweek ended their printing edition last year to focus on their digital publication.  Winding down print operations came at a price for the company.

Yahoo! Signs A Display Ad Deal With Google

Yahoo! has announced an advertising partnership deal with Google.  Since Yahoo! has millions of content pages that could be monetized with the help of Google, Yahoo! Apple iTunes Hits 25 Billion Songs Sold

Apple Inc. has hit 25 billion songs sold on iTunes.  The 25 billionth song is called “Monkey Drums” (Goksel Vancin Remix) by Chase Buch.  The song was purchased by Phillip Lüpke from Germany.  Phillip will receive a €10,000 iTunes Gift Card as a reward for downloading the 25 billionth song.

Apple Job Posting Indicates That Siri Is Coming To The Mac

There was a job posting on the Apple website for a position called “Siri UI Engineer.”  The job posting was looking for an engineer that has experience with Unix (OS X).  The position specifically mentioned OS X and not iOS.  Siri has been released only on iOS so far.  The posting has been removed after it received some attention from the press.

Samsung Invests In Database-As-A-Service Company Cloudant

Samsung Electronics has invested in a cloud-based mobile enterprise company called Cloudant.  Cloudant is a database-as-a-serve company that was even backed by the U.S. CIA agency as a customer and investor.  Other investors in Cloudant includes Y Combinator and Avalon Ventures.  Cloudant was a Y Combinator class in 2008.

Google In Talks To Put $50 Million Into Vevo

Google Inc. is currently in talks to invest $50 million into music video service Vevo LLC.  Google would own less than 10% of the company as part of the investment and would give the music video website a valuation of about $500 million according to sources with Bloomberg.  The negotiations are still in early stages.

Cadillac CUE To Improve Responsiveness Later This Year

General Motors is working on updating the Cadillac User Experience (CUE) infotainment system.  The system has a capacitive touchscreen and multi-touch controls.  Unfortunately the CUE is not responsive and it lags.  Later this year, Cadillac will release an update for the infotainment system to improve the feedback for the touchscreen controls and the capacitive virtual buttons on the center stack.

BlackBerry Q10 To Arrive In The U.S. Between May-June

If you want to get your hands on a BlackBerry 10 device and you live in the U.S., odds are that you won’t get one until at least May.  Initially BlackBerry was projecting that it would be available in the U.S. starting in March, but that’s not happening.  BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins revealed this information in an interview with the Associated Press.  The release dates vary from carrier-to-carrier and the company said that the Q10 will arrive in other markets starting in April.
