Chamath Palihapitiya’s Social+Capital Partnership Has Raised Over $275 Million In Second Round

Chamath Palihapitiya is an early Facebook employee that left the company in 2011 to launch a venture capital firm called The Social+Capital Partnership.  Palihapitiya has raised over $275 million for The Social+Capital Partnership’s second fund and it came from “the same folks” along with some “really amazing” additions as quoted by TechCrunch.  One of the investors was the Mayo Clinic as an LP.  Palihapitiya said that his investment returns can help fund improvements for the hospital.

“If I burn through all the money I make through Facebook doing that, I don’t care,” said Palihapitiya at the Launch conference.  Through the company’s investments and his own activity as an angel investor, Social+Capital “participated in $2 billion in liquidity” last year.
