Twitter Discontinues TweetDeck For Android, iPhone, And Adobe AIR

Twitter has shut down the TweetDeck applications on Android, the Apple iPhone, and Adobe AIR.  The service will now exist primarily in the form of a web-based service on, a Google Chrome application, TweetDeck for the PC, and TweetDeck for Mac.  Twitter is also ending TweetDeck’s Facebook integration.

The web-based version of TweetDeck will be the first to get new features and that will be followed by the Mac and PC apps.  The current versions of TweetDeck for AIR, iPhone, and Android are still on version 1.0 of Twitter’s API, which will be retired in a few weeks.

“In many ways, doubling down on the TweetDeck web experience and discontinuing our app support is a reflection of where our TweetDeck power-users are going. Over the past few years, we’ve seen a steady trend towards people using TweetDeck on their computers and Twitter on their mobile devices. This trend coincides with an increased investment in Twitter for iPhone and Twitter for Android –– adding photo filters and other editing capabilitiesrevamping user profiles and enhancing search. That said, we know this applies to most of our users –– not all of them. And for those of you who are inconvenienced by this shift, our sincere apologies,” said TweetDeck on the company blog.
