VMware Sells SlideRocket To Clearslide

VMware has sold SlideRocket to ClearSlide.  ClearSlide will use SlideRocket to for offering customers rich slide creation tools.  VMware acquired SlideRocket in April 2011.  ClearSlide is a startup that has raised $39 million in funding and they have a cloud-based online presentation application that rivals against Microsoft PowerPoint.  When SlideRocket was acquired, the company had over 20,000 customers and 300,000 users.

A majority of the SlideRocket team will join ClearSlide.  ClearSlide has 150 employees and they plan to hit 250 by the end of the year.  ClearSlide gives users analytics that shows how the presentation was received by customers.  This data can be used to determine what sales presentations are more effective than others according to TechCrunch.  The deal closed last week, but the terms were undisclosed.
