Education Search Company Noodle Acquires Lore

Education search company Noodle has acquired education social network, Lore.  Noodle was founded by the Princeton Review and 2U founder John Katzman in 2011.  Lore started in May 2011 as a platform for people and professors to connect in individual classes.

By using Lore, professors had the ability to invite students in for discussions.  Lore had raised $5 million in January 2012 and launched several new features in August 2012.  The new features included the ability for students to build groups that are not tied to a specific courses.

Lore was considered a “virtual campus” and that will tie nicely into Noodle’s student recommendation engine.  Noodle helps students find classes, tutors, and class materials.  Noodle curates data from over 150,000 schools and education providers.
