MapR Raises $30 Million In Series C

MapR is a company that makes managing and analyzing big data easier through the distribution of Hadoop.  Hadoop is an open-source software framework that supports data-intensive applications.  Based in San Jose, California, MapR has raised $30 million in Series C funding.

MapR generates revenue by offering professional consulting services to Hadoop users across multiple industries including the financial, healthcare, and telecommunications sectors.

This past August, MapR raised $20 million in a second round of funding.  The funding was used by the company to open new offices in London and Munich.  Through the new round of funding, MapR will open an office in Asia and invest in research and development.

This round of funding was led by Mayfield Fund.  Existing investors New Enterprise Associates, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Redpoint Ventures participated in this round as well.
