Microsoft Files “Blink” Trademark
Microsoft Corporation has filed a trademark for the word “blink.” The timing is very coincidental because Google announced earlier this month that they are switching over to an open-source rendering engine for the Android mobile browser called Blink.
Microsoft’s BLINK is a Windows 8 application that allows people to capture a groupie of images before and after the shot is taken so that the best photo can be picked.
The app also has stabilization technology that was developed by Microsoft Research according to TheNextWeb. Microsoft may possibly add this feature into Windows Phone as well.
What makes this trademark filing unique is that Microsoft generally does not file trademarks for products created at their R&D unless it “graduates” into a full-fledged offering. Microsoft has not filed trademarks for any of their other most recent R&D projects.
