CA Technologies Has Acquired Layer7
CA Technologies is a management software company that has acquired Layer7. Layer7 is known for offering application programming interface (API) solutions. Layer7’s API Management Suite of products enables enterprises address key security and management challenges. APIs offer a standardized way to share information on the web and mobile devices.
Layer7 was founded in 2003 and raised $20 million from several venture capital companies. The company has hundreds of enterprise customers and employs about 165 employees at their offices in Washington D.C., Canada, the U.K., and Australia.
“This enables us to extend our leading Mobility, Security and DevOps value proposition by liberating developers to securely connect applications to cloud services, expose internal information assets to mobile apps and bridge departments and partners all under a consistent security policy,” stated a CA spokesperson in an interview with VentureBeat.
CA Technologies is a large independent software company that is based in New York. The company saw around $5.08 billion in 2011 revenues. The acquisition of Layer7 follows the recent high-profile acquisition of Mashery by Intel.
