AOL Music Is Being Partially Shut Down

AOL is shutting down AOL Music news and the employees in that division are being fired. There are tweets being sent out from the AOL Music website and from Spinner’s Twitter account. Poor performance is being cited as a result of the shut-down. Winamp, SHOUTcast, and the Spinning music blog may not be entirely shutdown.

AOL Music runs several music websites in difference genres. AOL gained ownership of the properties when acquiring Nullsoft for $400 million. Nullsoft’s properties included Winamp, SHOUTcast, and Spinner for $400 million.

Spinner sent out a tweet saying that the service is shutting down, but then the tweet was deleted. Spinner editor Dan Reilly sent out this tweet:
