The Nokia Lumia 928 Is Coming To Verizon On May 16
A couple of days ago, Nokia confirmed a new device called the Lumia 928 was coming soon. The details have been officially announced today. The Lumia 928 is coming to Verizon Wireless on May 16th. The Lumia 928 will come packed with a 1.5GHz dual core processor, 4.5-inch display (1280 x 768 resolution), and 8.7-megapixel camera with a Xenon flash.
The Lumia 928 will be available in black or white from Verizon Wireless retail stores and their website next week at a price of $99 (with a $50 mail-in rebate and two-year contract). As part of a limited time offer, buyers will also get a $25 credit for Windows Phone apps.
Nokia is working on improving their sales in the U.S. as they have only sold 400,000 phones here in Q1 of this year. That was a 33% decline as the company shipped 700,000 phones in the same quarter last year.
The launch of the Nokia Lumia 928 in the United States is a crucial moment at Nokia since investors are losing their patience in the company. Investors are angry that Nokia is sticking with just Windows Phone. Nokia CEO Stephen Elop is a former Microsoft executive.
Last month, we reported that 5.6 million Lumia devices were sold in Q1. That number was up 4.4 million in the previous quarter. Around two-third of the Lumias sold in Q1 were running on Windows Phone 8.
