The Sony Xperia ZR Smartphone Lets You Take Full HD Videos Underwater
Sony Corporation has announced a new smartphone called the Xperia ZR. What makes the ZR unique is that it can be submerged 5 feet underwater without any issues. The phone has a level of water resistance at IP55 and IP58. This is better than the Sony Xperia Z, which can be submerged into 3.3 feet of water. Keep in mind that the ZR can only be used in “fresh water.” This means that you should not take it with you while swimming at the beach.
The Xperia ZR has similar features as the Xperia Z, which includes a 4.6-inch screen, 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 13-megapixel camera with full HD shooting, Exmor RS image sensor to take HDR photos/videos, and 2GB of RAM. The Xperia ZR is also rustproof and shatterproof because it has scratch-resistant glass. It is powered by the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.
“The Xperia ZR pushes the boundaries on where and how consumers can use the full potential of their smartphone. By combining Sony’s leading camera technology with the highest level of water-resistance, you will never miss another moment,” said director of Xperia Marketing Calum MacDougall.
The Sony Xperia ZR will be available in black or white in Q2 2013 for an undisclosed price. Check a couple video demos of the phone below:This article was written by Amit Chowdhry. You can follow me at @amitchowdhry or on Google+ at +AmitChowdhry
