Rightware is a startup that builds embedded user interface software and performance benchmarking tools.  Rightware has raised $5.2 million in Series B funding from Inventure, Nexit Ventures, and new investor Finnish Industry Investment.

Rightware was founded in 2009 and has offices across Finland, Germany, Taiwan, China, and the U.S.  One of Rightware’s largest customers is Audi AG, which uses the company’s Kanzi UI creation tool.  Rightware has raised around $9 million total thus far.

Rightware said that Kanzi was designed to close the gap between UI designers and engineers.  Kanzi has a WYSYWYG editor that helps cut development times.

The company plans on using the investment to expand their global sales and further develop their tools.  Rightware has seen rapid growth, especially in the auto and consumer electronics companies in Europe, U.S., and Asia.

“We are seeing that we have an explosive growth in the Kanzi UI business unit. We saw already during first quarter of this year… 100% growth and that seems to be continuing month-over-month,” stated Rightware CEO Jonas Geust.

The demand for their tools are increasing as a result of higher resolution screens.  Rightware’s Q1 2013 user interface business revenues were more than double compared to Q1 2012.  The company is expecting to further accelerate towards the end of the year.
