LG To Showcase Indestructible and Flexible OLED Screens This Week
LG Display will be at the Society for Information Display’s Display Week annual conference in Vancouver this week where they will be showcasing a flexible and indestructible OLED screen. The 5-inch screen will be bendable and made out of plastic, which could make mobile phones less vulnerable to scrapes and cracks.
LG is also going to showcase other groundbreaking screen technologies at the conference. For example, they will be presenting 5.5-inch and 7-inch HD Oxide TFT panels. The 5.5-inch TFT panel will have a 1.0mm bezel so that borderless smartphones will emit less heat. Another screen that LG will present is a 55-inch curved OLED television set.
Still not enough? LG will present a 23.8-inch Ultra HD panel for monitors and the first 7-inch FHD display for tablets that has a pixel density that exceeds 300ppi.
“Recent trends indicate that the small- and medium-sized display market is moving towards high resolution and low power consumption, and the large panel market to OLED and Ultra HD,” said LG Display CTO and EVP Dr. Sang-Deok Yeo in a press release. “With the resulting rapid need for new display advancements, LG Display, at the forefront of these trends, is well positioned to lead the market with its differentiated and cutting-edge technologies.”
