Enterprise Data Management Startup WibiData Raises $15 Million
WibiData is an enterprise data management startup that has raised $15 million. Canaan Partners led this round of funding. Existing investors New Enterprise Associates and Google Chairman Eric Schmidt also participated in this round.
The company plans to use the funding for recruitment, product development, and expansion. Based in San Francisco, WibiData started in 2010 and has raised a total of $20 million.
WibiData is known for selling big data applications to help process consumer insights and reactions in real-time. WibiData caters to smaller companies so they do not have to use their own engineering resources.
WibiData was founded by Christophe Bisciglia (also known for being a founder of Cloudera) and Aaron Kimball (also known for creating Apache Sqoop).
According to VentureBeat, WibiData focuses on four industry-specific application suites: retail, finance, mobile, and SaaS. Their services include data integration, analysis, and predictive modeling.
WibiData’s technology helps app companies deliver content personalization, search relevance, predictive recommendations, and anomaly detection. WibiData’s applications are based on the open source Kiji Project, which lessens the development and deployment cycles.
Some of WibiData’s clients include Opower, Atlassian, and Mobile Posse.
