Google Releases A Keyboard For Tablets and Phones On Android 4.0+

Google Keyboard

Google has announced that they are going to be bringing their own keyboard app to tablets and smartphones that are on Android 4.0 and above.  The keyboard is available as a download from Google Play for free.  The Google Keyboard app will look very familiar to Google Nexus users.

Some of the features built into Google Keyboard includes Gesture Typing (glide through letters to form a word – lift your finger to enter a space), automatic error correction, and word prediction.  Tapping on the microphone icon will let you compose messages with Google Voice Typing.  The Google Keyboard supports 26 languages (plus keyboard layouts for a dozen more).

“Android is an open platform, so you can customize your device to your liking; choosing your own keyboard is just one example of what’s possible – and there are a lot of great keyboards to choose from on Google Play,” said the Android team on their Google+ profile.
