The Huawei Ascend P6 Is The World’s Thinnest Smartphone
Huawei Technologies has announced a new Ascend P6 smartphone and it is the world’s thinnest. The Ascend P6 measures at 6.18 millimeters and it has the highest-resolution front-facing camera at 5-megapixels. Huawei announced the Ascend P6 at a launch in London.
The Apple iPhone 5 measures at 7.6 millimeters and it has a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. The Ascend P6 has an 8-megapixel rear camera, just like the iPhone 5. The P6 is slightly heavier at 120 grams than the iPhone’s 112 grams. The P6 is more comparable to the Samsung Galaxy S4. The Ascend P6 runs on Android 4.2.2. and it has a 1.5GHz quad-core chip. The Galaxy S4 has either a 1.9GHz quad-core or a 1.6GHz octa-core processor.
The Ascend P6 also has a 4.7-inch display, which is smaller than the S4. However, it is larger than the iPhone screen. The P6 can be used while wearing gloves too. The Ascend P6 battery has a 2,000mAh capacity. Huawei said that they have power optimization technologies that can extend battery life by up to 30%.
Huawei placed a proprietary user interface on top of the Ascend P6. The new user interface is called Emotion UI. The version of Emotion UI that is going to be on the Ascend P6 includes panoramic photo and facial recognition features. The Ascend P6 will be available in black, white, and pink.
The Ascend P6 will be shipping in China first, starting this month. It will be available for sale in July across Europe through the operators Vodafone, Telefonica, and Orange. The phone resellers Carphone Warehouse, TalkTalk, Media Markt, and Saturn will be selling the phone in Europe.
