CRM Company Intercom Raises $6 Million

Intercom is a customer relationship management startup that has raised $6 million in funding.  Intercom makes it possible for sales and marketing teams to handle newsletters, marketing automation, and customer support.

This round of funding was led by Social+Capital Partnership.  Previous investor Freestyle Capital and David Sacks (founder/CEO of Yammer) also participated in this round.  The company previously raised a $1.75 million seed round from Freestyle Capital, 500 Startups, and several angel investors.

“For too many companies, the process of reaching out to a customer looks like this: Pull up the help desk to view submitted tickets, check user backgrounds on separate CRM software, and use the email-marketing program to send all users with a similar issue the same generic email even though the email-automation software sent those people a completely mistargeted email the day before,” stated Intercom CEO Eoghan McCabe.

I love Intercom, I think they’ve done an amazing job at creating an app for a specific vertical of websites with online users. They have a really slick interface with some great features.

I think they also have their heads on straight in terms of where CRM needs to be. Glad they got the funding.
