New Relic Launches Over 50 Plugins
New Relic is a service that lets you pinpoint and solve performance issues in your Ruby, Java, .NET, Python, Android, and iOS applications with real user, application, and server monitoring. The company recently launched over 50 plugins to allow customers a way to monitor more of their infrastructure. There are plugins for MySQL, Memcached, CouchDB, Amazon Web Services, Riak, Redis, and F5 Networks. New Relic is not charging for these plugins.
New Relic has plans to work with developers as a community to create new plugins. Developers can create their own plugins using software-development kits (SDKs).
“We supply an SDK in Ruby,” stated New Relic VP of engineering Bjorn Freeman-Benson. “We have another one in Java. We have a straight API. If you want to write in some other language, like Node, you can call the API directly and juse set up a loop that checks for data from whatever source you’re looking at.”
