Brit + Co. Raises $6.3 Million In Series A
Brit Morin (pictured above) is known for being the founder and CEO of Brit + Co., which is a DIY and e-commerce that contains recipes and deals for goods. Married to Path founder Dave Morin, Brit used to work at Apple on iTunes and Google TV, Google Maps, Google Search, and iGoogle at Google. She left Google in 2011 at age 25 to start Brit + Co.
Brit + Co. has raised $6.3 million in Series A funding from Index Ventures, Lerer Ventures, Cowboy Ventures, Marissa Mayer, Aileen Lee and Oak Investment Partners. Tina Sharkey (venture capitalist and former BabyCenter president) and Fred Harman (of Oak Investment Partners) has joined Brit + Co.’s board of directors.
Harman is known for helping The Huffington Post and Bleacher Report exit for deals that are worth hundreds of millions of dollars according to BusinessInsider. Generally Harman participates in later rounds, but he got in very early with Brit + Co. He said that he was interested in the merging of content with commerce.
Brit+ Co. recently started selling monthly DIY kits for crafts and finished products of goods that she teaches people to make.
