Facebook Adds Hashtags To Mobile Site

Facebook Hashtags
Facebook, the largest social network in the world, launched a hashtags feature earlier this month.  Hashtags have also been added to the social network’s mobile website.  Facebook said that hashtags “turn topics and phrases into clickable links in posts on your personal timeline or your Page, and help people find posts about topics they’re interested in.”  Hashtags are not yet available on the Facebook iOS or Android smartphone apps yet.

Related Hashtags: Facebook is also adding related hashtags to the social network.  Previously, users could search for hashtags from the search bar and users could click on hashtags that originate from other services like Instagram.  They can also compose status updates from the hashtag feed.  Related hashtags allows users to see a results page with other similar hashtags posted at the same time.

Twitter popularized the usage of hashtags, but the feature has been integrated in several other social networks since then.  Instagram and Pinterest allows their users to browse content through hashtags as well.

Yesterday we reported that Facebook is testing a chat rooms feature and the company has launched the Android Beta Testing Program to help improve their mobile experience.
