Uber Expands To The Hamptons
Uber is a startup that lets passengers hire drivers of luxury vehicles for hire using a mobile application. Based in San Francisco, Uber is available in cities like Seattle, Chicago, New York City, Los Angeles, Toronto, Paris, Dallas, San Diego, Amsterdam, Atlanta, Denver, Minneapolis, etc. Uber has expanded to the Hamptons recently using the company’s iPhone, Android, or mobile website (m.uber.com).
One-way flat rates to the Hamptons is $300 for uberX (midrange car), $400 for UberBlack (sedan), and $500 for UberSUV (SUV), according to CNET. Uber will also be available within the Hamptons.
When the service launches tomorrow, UberChopper will be available from noon to 8PM. Uber will dispatch an SUV to pick up customers and escort them to their nearest NYC helipad for a helicopter ride to the Hamptons where an SUV will be waiting to complete the trip to their final destination.
Regulators were resistant to Uber at first. New York’s Taxi and Limousine Commission resisted Uber’s pilot program in April, but they eventually came around. The cities of Chicago, Washington, Denver, Miami, and San Francisco also attempted to block ride sharing companies at first.
