Dr. Amar Bose Passes Away

Dr Amar Bose
Dr. Amar Bose is known for being the founder of audio company Bose Corporation.  Dr. Bose passed away this past Friday at his home in Wayland, Massachusetts at the age of 83 due to natural causes.

Classical music was Dr. Bose’s favorite time of music and he wanted to hear it in high-quality speakers without any interference from outside noises.  This is when he decided to start Bose Corporation in 1964 while studying electrical engineering as a postgraduate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).  Bose decided to keep his company private so that he could focus on the research around the business.

Aside from receiving his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering at MIT, Dr. Bose also worked as a faculty member between 1956 and 2001.  Two years ago, Dr. Bose donated a majority of Bose Corporation’s shares to MIT as long as the school did not sell any stock or interference with the company’s management.
