Google Doodle Pays Homage To Rembrandt’s 407th Birthday
Rembrandt van Rijn was born 407 years ago. You will notice that Google paid homage to Rembrandt on the Google.com homepage today in the form of a Doodle. Rembrandt is known for painting some of the greatest pieces of art. Many of them are self-portraits.
The painting that is featured on Google’s homepage is called the “Self-Portrait With Beret and Turned Up Collar.”
Rembrandt painted this art piece at the age of 53 after he suffered the death of his three of four children from his first wife and the death of his mother. He was also not doing well financially, according to Inquisitr.
“Old age is a hindrance to creativity but cannot crush my youthful spirit,” said Rembrandt about the portrait.
Rembrandt is believed to have created over 600 paintings, 400 etchings and 2,000 drawings in his life. He passed away in Amsterdam in 1669.
