Gift Subscription Company Quarterly Raises $3.25 Million
Based in Hollywood, Quarterly is a gift subscription service. When you sign up, you are ask to subscribe to anyone of Quarterly’s “influential contributors” that you find interest. Every few months, you will receive a package with a few gifts from those people. True Ventures added $1 million to Quarterly’s previous $2.25 million funding round. Collaborative Fund and VegasTechFund participated in that round.
Quarterly is run by Mitch Lowe, a co-founder of Netflix and Redbox. Lowe became the head of Quarterly last month. The company was founded in 2011 by Zach Frechette. Frechette is known for being the founder of GOOD magazine.
These products are intended to reflect the person that selected the products and makes the subscriber feel closer to them.
Many of the contributors on Quarterly are bloggers, media figures, and entrepreneurs. Many of the packages have a theme that the team curates.
