The NVIDIA Shield Android handheld gaming device will start shipping on July 31st.  The Shield was expected to start shipping late last month.  However, NVIDIA had to deal with mechanical issues associated with third-party components, according to SlashGear.

The Shield console can stream PC games from Steam.  The console has a flip-out display that measures around 5-inches diagonally with a 720p HD resolution.  NVIDIA announced the console at CES 2013.

It will cost $299 when it launches July 31st.  The price dropped from $349 after getting feedback from buyers at E3 last month.  You can still pre-order the Shield right now.
