Ford Motor Company (F) To Boost Engineer Staff
Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) is rapidly hiring more engineers and other salaried employees in order to meet the increased demand in the auto industry. Ford will be increasing their white-collar hiring by 36% (800 jobs) to a total of 3,000.
Around 80% of the new hires will be engineers and information technology workers that will help design the next generation of vehicles that will be succeeding the Fusion, Focus, F-150, and other vehicles. Between 2006 and 2009, Ford laid off or lost around 13,000 salaried employees.
The engineers are also needed for driving high-tech developments in electronic controls, safety systems, and infotainment systems. Ford is competing with Silicon Valley to attract top-notch tech talent.
“We’re aggressively recruiting. It’s a muscle we haven’t used in a while,” stated Ford’s global product development chief Raj Nair. “The specialties we are having trouble filling are software, electric and electronic. There’s a lot of demand for that talent.”This article was written by Amit Chowdhry. You can follow me at @amitchowdhry or on Google+ at +AmitChowdhry
