Apple Bought Back 36 Million Shares In Q3 2013
Apple was originally planning on buying back 10 million shares for Q3 2013, but the company bought 36 million shares instead. This is more than triple the amount that was planned. Apple spent $16 billion buying back their shares, $4 billion in cash and $12 billion through an accelerated share repurchase program, according to AllThingsD.
Apple bought the shares back at between prices of $444 and $488. For that same amount of money, Apple could have acquired Nokia. Or they could have used that money to buy both HTC and BlackBerry in one sweep.
