Google Shut Down Their Free Netflix Offer Due To “Overwhelming Demand”
Google started selling the Chromecast earlier this week with a low price of $35 and three months free of Netflix (for new and existing customers). Within 24 hours, the Chromecast sold out. Now Google is no longer offering free Netflix for three months.
“Due to overwhelming demand for Chromecast devices since launch, the 3-month Netflix promotion (which was available in limited quantities) is no longer available,” stated a Google spokesperson in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.
Apparently almost 250,000 Netflix promo codes were created for the Google Chromecast, according to Sahas Katta. Katta is a developer that claims on Twitter that a Netflix employee told him about that figure. People that ordered a Chromecast before mentions of the offer disappeared from Google’s product page will still get the 3 month subscription code for Netflix.
