Amazon has partnered with over 150 galleries and art dealers across the United States to sell beautiful art pieces on Amazon Art.  Amazon Art has 40,000 original works of art across 4,500 artists.  This means that Amazon now has the largest online collection of art available from galleries and dealers.  Some of Amazon’s partners includes Paddle8 in New York and the McLoughlin Gallery in San Francisco.  Amazon will take a 5-20% cut on all of the sales.

This is not the first time attempted to sell art.  The company was partnered with Sotheby’s throughout most of the year 2000.

“We are excited to bring one of the largest selections of fine art direct from galleries to our customers. Amazon Art gives galleries a way to bring their passion and expertise about the artists they represent to our millions of customers,” stated Amazon Marketplace VP Peter Faricy. “We’re thrilled to bring the excitement and emotional connection of art to our customers.”
