Samsung Files Trademark For “Galaxy Gear,” Likely The Name For Their Smart-Watch
Samsung Electronics is making moves towards launching a new smart-watch product. Samsung has filed a trademark with application with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for the term “Samsung Galaxy Gear.” The filing was made on July 29th.
The filing references “wearable digital electronic devices in the form of a wristwatch, wrist band or bangle capable of providing access to the Internet and for sending and receiving phone calls, electronic mails and messages.”
Samsung is not the only company that is reportedly working on a smart-watch product. Apple and Google are both looking into the development of a smart-watch product and they all will be competing against Pebble and Sony Corporation. Apple has filed trademark applications in several countries for the term “iWatch.”
