AnsibleWorks Raises $6 Million

AnsibleWorks is an open-source framework company that has raised $6 million from Menlo Ventures.  Ansible is a simple IT orchestration engine that makes your applications and systems easier to deploy.  You can avoid writing scripts or custom code to deploy and update your applications using Ansible.

Ansible has a single interface to coordinate major IT automation functions.  Ansible has around 300,000 users and is hitting about 30,000 downloads per month.  Some of their users includes companies like Evernote, MapR, and AppDynamics.  Several Fortune 500 companies also use Ansible.

Ansible launched AWS last month, which is their first commercial enterprise product.  AWX has a graphical user interface and REST endpoint that can be layered on top of Ansible so that it can connect with systems that IT managers and developers can understand.

“IT automation has resurfaced as an area of significant business opportunity, especially with increased complexity and the widespread adoption of cloud, big data, and virtualization technologies,” stated AnsibleWorks CEO and co-founder Said Ziouani. “AnsibleWorks is the obvious solution to these automation challenges. This investment will help us accelerate the expansion of our product base and support operations to meet market demand. Our goal remains to continue being the simplest, most secure, IT orchestration and application deployment engine available.”
