Vungle Raises $6.5 Million, Hits 2 Billion Video Views

Vungle is a leading in-app video advertising platform company.  The company has hit 2 billion video views since being founded last year.  The company also announced today that they have raised $6.5 million in Series A funding.  This round of funding was led by Crosslink Capital.  Existing investors Google Ventures, AOL Ventures, 500 Startups, SV Angel, Maynard Webb, Scott McNealy, and Tim Draper also participated in this round.  Over the past year, Vungle opened offices in San Francisco, London, and Berlin.

“Mobile video advertising is at the center of two huge trends – people spending more time on mobile than on TV or computers, and mobile users becoming increasingly sophisticated and demanding experiences that involve sound and motion – not just static banners,” stated Vungle co-founder and CEO Zain Jaffer. “As the leader in in-app video advertising, Vungle gives app developers and publishers the tools to capitalize on those trends. We want to enable developers to monetize by providing users with amazing mobile video experiences.”

Vungle will be using this round of funding for hiring and building scalable technology that will help developers monetize their applications without compromising their user interfaces.  Vungle videos work on iOS and Android.
