Jeff Bezos Suggests The Washington Post Uses Amazon’s Philosophy
Amazon.com founder and CEO Jeff Bezos interviewed with The Washington Post today. In the interview, Bezos said what he believes will lead The Washington Post to a “golden era” once again. Jeff Bezos acquired The Washington Post for $250 million in early August.
“We’ve had three big ideas at Amazon that we’ve stuck with for 18 years, and they’re the reason we’re successful: Put the customer first. Invent. And be patient,” stated Bezos. “If you replace ‘customer’ with ‘reader,’ that approach, that point of view, can be successful at The Post, too.”
Bezos will not be involved in The Washington Post’s day-to-day, but he will offer his point-of-view in discussions. He will also offer financial support over a lengthy period until the newspaper company creates a new profitable formula.
