Maker Studios Raises $26 Million In Additional Series C Funding
Maker Studios is a YouTube channel network that has raised $26 million in additional Series C funding from several international investors. The total Series C round is now set at $62 million, which brings the company’s total funding at $70 million.
Investors in the additional capital includes Canal+, Astro, SingTel Innov8, Lakestar, Northgate Capital, and several existing investors
The investment from Canal+ and Singtel is strategic and will be used for helping the company grow overseas. Maker Studios is based in Los Angeles and they have an office in London. The company plans to expand further into Europe and Asia.
Maker is hitting around 4 billion video views per month and when the company raised the first Series C round in December, they were hitting around half of that. Maker Studios runs 60,000 channels and has over 260 million subscribers.
Maker Studios recently acquired Blip.tv. Blip.tv will be used for helping distribute Maker’s videos on multiple platforms like the Roku and Xbox 360.
Previous investors in Maker Studios includes Time Warner Ventures, Upfront Ventures, Greycroft Partners, Ynon Kreiz, Downey Ventures, Elisabeth Murdoch, FUEL: M+C, Daher Capital, and Jon Landau.
