3D Robotics has announced that they have raised $30 million in Series B funding from Foundry Group, True Ventures, O’Reilly AlphaTech Ventures, and SK Ventures.  3D Robotics previously raised $5 million in funding from many of the same investors.

3D Robotics CEO Chris Anderson is known for being the former editor-in-chief at Wired.  This round of funding will be used for opening an office in San Francisco and hiring staff for that office.  3D Robotics will also launch a new website and develop new products like drones and aerial robotics.

One of 3D Robotics’ flagship products is the $720 drone Iris.  The Iris can be controlled from a PC or Android device.  The drone can follow paths that are drawn on an on-screen map within the app.
