GoPro Announces The Hero3+

GoPro Hero3+
GoPro has announced the new Hero3+ series, which is an update to the Hero3 cameras.  The Hero3 launched around a year ago.  The Hero3+ will be available starting today and it will be available in three models.  The Black Edition costs $399, the Silver Edition costs $299, and the White Edition costs $199.

All of these versions are 20% thinner and lighter than the Hero3, according to AllThingsD.  The Black and Silver Editions have improved image quality and battery life.  The Hero3+ Black Edition has a feature called SuperView, which converts video shot in 4:3 aspect ratio to 16:9.

The Hero3+ has automatic low-light, which changes the frame rate based on what the lighting conditions are.  The Hero3+ Silver Edition is twice as powerful as the previous version as it can shoot 1080p video at up to 60fps compared to 30fps.  GoPro sold over 2.3 million cameras last year and they will beat that number this year.

From what I see, there has been some nice improvements without a price increase. The extended battery life is foremost. It’s nice to see some vendors (ie: HumbleOutdoors) still offering free bundle upgrades.
