Amazon.com Expected To Launch A Set-Top Box By This Holiday Season
Amazon.com is preparing to launch their own set-top box this holiday season to compete against products like the Roku and the Apple TV, according to The Wall Street Journal. The Amazon set-top box will reportedly host third party applications like Netflix and Hulu. Amazon also talked to developers to design media apps and games for the set-top box. The code-name for the set top box is “Cinnamon.” The Amazon set-top box would help Amazon boost Prime membership, which is their $79 per year service for streaming content and two-day shipping on many items.
