The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) is shutting down the Pixar animation studio in Vancouver, which was opened 3 years ago.  Operations will be rerouted to Pixar HQ in Emeryville, California.  The studio shut-down will affect around 100 jobs and the closure is effective immediately.

“The team at Pixar Canada is incredibly talented, and we are so proud of the excellent work we have produced there,” said Pixar in a statement.  “However, as we look at the creative and business needs of our studio, we’ve made the decision to refocus our efforts and resources under one roof in Emeryville and will be closing the studio in Vancouver.”

The Pixar Vancouver studio worked on shorts like Air Mater, Small Fry, and Partysaurus Rex.

Disney decided to shut down the studio mainly to refocus efforts and resources to the one facility.
