Fitbit Force: A Wireless Activity And Sleep-Tracking Wristband
Fitbit has announced a new device called the Fitbit Force. The Fitbit Force is a wireless activity and sleep-tracking wrist band that has an OLED display that shows instant access to all your activity stats on your wrist. Fitbit will show you the steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned, active minutes, and floors climbed (with the built-in altimeter).
The Fitbit Force also monitors your sleep and can wake you up with a silent alarm. The Fitbit Force can act as a watch and offer you incoming call notifications. The Force lets you set a goal for daily “active minutes,” which are moderate-to-high intensity cadio minutes. The Center for Disease Control recommends 150 minutes per week. The Force can report how many times you wake up or are restless.
Using Bluetooth 4.0, the Force can wirelessly sync to your smartphone or tablets so that you progress is always up to date. Android users can tap the NFC-enabled Force to a photo to launch the Fitbit app. To keep you motivated, the Force has notifications, badges, and leaderboards. You can send direct messages to friends throughout the day also.
The Force has a battery life of 7-10 days. It will be available in two colors (black and slate). The Force retails for $129.95 and is available for ordering today on Fitbit.com. Select retailers will be selling the Force within the next 3-4 weeks.
