GoDaddy Has Acquired Media Temple
GoDaddy is a popular domain name registration and hosting service that has acquired Media Temple, another well known web hosting company. Through the acquisition of Media Temple, GoDaddy will be able to grow their web hosting business. Media Temple has over 1.5 million customers and launched 15 years ago. This is GoDaddy’s sixth acquisition in the last 15 months. The two companies will operate separately for now, but they will be sharing technology.
GoDaddy is no stranger to controversy. In the past, their ads have been known for being too promiscuous and many customers left because of GoDaddy’s support for an Online Piracy bill that many people believe violated privacy rights.
However, GoDaddy launched a new successful marketing campaign starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and many small business owners. These ads have done very well and have gone viral. Many people have become receptive of GoDaddy’s ads again as a result. The ads are very funny, like the one below:
