Apple Inc. (AAPL) Spaceship HQ Gets Cleared For Construction
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is working on a new campus that would be based in Cupertino, California, which looks similar to a “spaceship.” The city of Cupertino has approved of the construction on Tuesday.
The Cupertino City Council unanimously approved of the 2.8 million square foot building, but they have to meet one more time on November 15th for a final vote on the Apple Campus 2 project.
Apple CEO Tim Cook was thrilled by the news and he wrote this on Twitter:
“Our home for innovation and creativity for decades to come. Cupertino City Council Gives Unanimous Approval for Apple’s New Campus.”
The campus design was initiated by late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. The building would be four stories higher and features curved glass. The campus is expected to accommodate over 14,000 employees, which is 5 times more than what Apple’s current headquarters.
Apple will be demolishing building on the site by the end of this year.
