Qualcomm Says The Microsoft Surface 2 Does Not Compare To Nokia Lumia 2520
Nokia recently released a new Windows RT tablet called the Nokia Lumia 2520. The 2520 is Nokia’s first tablet and their second Windows RT product. Microsoft is in the process of buying out Nokia. Qualcomm said that the Lumia 2520 has better specs than the Microsoft Surface 2 between the processor speed, graphics, video playback, and wireless connectivity.
“The performance on [the 2520] is brilliant,” stated Qualcomm application processors senior vice president of product management Raj Talluri in an interview with CNET. “It’s really at the next level. It’s not even really a contest [compared to Surface 2] … In every area, it’s much bigger, faster, and lower power.”
Qualcomm has a reason to be biased because the Lumia 2520 has a Qualcomm processor and the Surface 2 chip was made by Nvidia. However, Talluri may not be wrong though. The Surface 2 has a 1.7GHz NVIDIA Tegra 4 chip while the Nokia Lumia 2520 has a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.
What’s the difference between Windows RT and the regular Windows operating system? Windows RT is able to run on low-power chips that was generally designed for smartphones. The set-back in Windows RT is that it is not compatible with older applications. This article was written by Amit Chowdhry. You can follow me at @amitchowdhry or on Google+ at +AmitChowdhry
