Nokia has sold 8.8 million Lumia smartphones over the last 3 months, which is a 19% increase over the previous numbers.  The cheaper Lumia 520 especially helped drive the unit sales.  Unfortunately, Nokia moved only 1.4 million smartphones in North America this summer, but this is around 4 times as many as this time last year.

Nokia’s net sales for Q3 2013 was 5.7 billion euros ($7.85 billion)  Nokia’s operating profit was 118 million euros ($162.4 million).  Nokia sold 7.4 Lumia smartphones in the previous quarter, but they saw a Q2 loss of 115 million euros ($150 million).  Between January and September of 20123, Nokia’s total sales fell 22%.

Microsoft is in the process of acquiring Nokia’s devices and services division for $7 billion.  This deal is expected to close at a November 19th shareholder meeting Helsinki.

Despite the acquisition, Nokia pushed forward by releasing new devices in the quarter like the Lumia 2520, the Lumia 1520, and Lumia 1320.
